Testing Support for
Western European characters
in .NU Domain Names
.NU Domain Ltd is now testing our unique new service, Internet Web addresses (domain names) that can use western european characters like ö, ä, ñ and å. Once these tests are complete we will begin to accept registrations for this new add-on service for .NU Domain name users. Customers will be required to have at least one valid .NU Domain name registered and active for each .NU domain name containing european characters. You may also choose to register for this new service through any of our .NU certified registrars worldwide.
We are currently testing the following domain names using Swedish and other European characters:

We will be adding more names as we approve new test sites.
Please read the following information:
We expect to be testing and making modifications for several more weeks before accepting registrations using these characters. However, if you have an active .NU Domain Web site which you are interested in using to help us participate in this test, you may pregister for this service
and we will consider adding it to our test platform.
We prefer you select a name that is closely related to the .NU domain name you are currently using for that Web site.
Certain ISPs in Sweden have modified their name servers to prohibit access to domain names containing european characters. That means that if your TCP/IP setup on your Windows software is pointing to one of those name servers, it will block access to our special domains. If you need help finding alternative name servers, or instructions in changing your name servers on your computer, please contact support@mail.nic.nu.
Most ISPs in Sweden and the rest of Europe, including Sweden's largest ISP, Telia, are permitting their customers access to these domain names.
Our system is compatible with Microsoft Windows Internet Explorer 5.0, Microsoft's Windows 2000 (NT 5.0), and UNICODE UTF-8 encoding.
